Highgate Hospital

A new and sophisticated electrical system to service vital hospital equipment

London builders Kind & Co were commissioned to build a two-storey extension to Highgate Hospital in North London, part of the Aspen Healthcare Group. The work formed part of a £13 million extensive redevelopment and expansion programme to include 43 patient rooms (all en-suite), a High Dependency Unit, four fully-equipped operating theatres, a state of the art Endoscopy Suite, Physiotherapy Suite, 15 outpatient rooms, and a private GP service.

They turned to GCL to design and install a new electrical ‘intra-structure’ system to service the new wing’s diagnostic suite. This would give patients access to a state-of-the art equipment and services including Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), 3/4D Ultrasound, Digital Fluoroscopy and Digital X-Ray services. This required specialised work delivered to the highest possible standard.

All existing hospital services needed to be kept fully operational throughout the project. GCL were the obvious choice with their unrivalled reputation for working within occupied premises where health and safety are paramount.
